Tick Tack. Tick Tack.

Seven years ago, I deleted my blog. I’d clocked up over a decade of posts, but I’d had enough. The deletion was quiet, no advanced warning or blaze of glory goodbye. Looking back it had probably been obvious where things were heading for some time.

Still, seven years is a long time. Two house moves, one job change, one marriage and one child later, maybe it’s time to try blogging again. Presumably this is like when someone announces they have taken up calligraphy or philately; sure, people do it but they have the decency to not discuss it in polite society.

And it’s the perfect moment to return, now that the Internet is Dead. No one blogs anymore, or if they do it’s via something like Substack; which largely seems to consist of former journalists who couldn’t keep their objectionable options to themselves.

When I first started blogging, the world was a different place. George W. Bush was still in the White House, Half-Life 2 had only just been released, and I was still in school. Then everything went to shit, Google killed RSS, and none of this will even matter when Putin presses the button.

Anyway, let’s try this again for a while. I’m still kicking the tires, seeing if this ol’ girl has the moves. We’ll see. It could be all over before the opening titles roll.

Nice to be back though.
